Following recent meetings with the Shelby County A&M Association, the owners and operators of the Shelby County Fairgrounds, the facilities are expected to be in much improved condition [for this event], according to Robertson Equine Sales President Jimmy Robertson.
“We were very disappointed with the problems with the facilities during our Autumn ’18 sale,” Robertson said. “Frankly, it was unacceptable to our guests and to our staff. We appreciate that the owners listened to us, and stepped up with plans for long-term upgrades.”
“We fully understand your concerns and pledge our best efforts at meeting the high expectations of the Saddlebred and show horse community for Robertson Equine Sales’s future events," said Shelby County A&M Board of Directors in a statement.
Carol Hance, vice president of the Shelby County A&M Board of Directors, responded, “The entire fair board, our board president Tom Ingram, and I would like to apologize for the unfortunate infrastructure problems that affected guests’ enjoyment during your Autumn Sale. We fully understand your concerns and pledge our best efforts at meeting the high expectations of the Saddlebred and show horse community for Robertson Equine Sales’s future events.”
Hance continued, “Shelby County is indeed the Saddlebred Capital of the World and we take that designation seriously. We have made every effort to correct the problems that arose and will actively seek to continue to provide a high-quality venue and facilities necessary for an event of this magnitude.”
Robertson also announced the selection of Shelbyville-based Four Moore’s, a popular mobile kitchen and catering service, that will be serving up delicious fare the full day.
