REMINDER: ASAA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD IS OPEN

The American Saddlebred Association of Arizona is offering its Scholarship Program to all current high school juniors and seniors, and college students, who demonstrate a commitment to the show horse industry and academic success. The program is available to all riders showing on the West Coast Circuit. All applications must be submitted electronically or postmarked to the ASAA office no later than APRIL 1, 2021. AHHS AND AHHS NATIONAL FUTURITY ANNOUNCE FUNDRAISER

The American Hackney Horse Society and AHHS National Futurity committee are organizing a fundraiser to raise money for the Futurity, while creating a fun interactive way to include owners and trainers, encourage people to show, and create new interest in the Futurity. The organizations are seeking 10-20 amateur exhibitors willing to be auctioned off to the highest bidder on 32 auctions, from March 5-March 10. Each amateur will compete from March 10 to September 30, 2021. During this time period, the amateurs will accumulate points by winning classes throughout the time frame (even one entry classes count towards a win). TSHSA ANNOUNCES 2021 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The TriState Horse Shows Association has announces its 2021 scholarship winners. The scholarship honors excellence in academics, community involvement and participation in the show industry. PALOS HILLS STABLES NEEDS HELP REBUILDING ITS INDOOR RIDING ARENA

** Following is a letter released to the horse community regarding Palos Hills Riding Stables. ** My name is Anne-Marie Kennedy and I've ridden and volunteered at Palos Hills Riding Stables/New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding Foundation for 12+ years. The number of people who consider Martha Thompson-Hoyt and her team at PHRS to be family are too many to count. As one rider put it, "Martha and this Barn have been a pillar in the community, teaching, educating and leading the way for children to develop and nurture their love of horses." The NCHS Summer Kick Off horse show will be held June 3-5, 2021, at Hale Arena, Kansas City Missouri. The judge this year will be Tammie Conatser of Nicholasville, Kentucky. RIVER RIDGE CHARITY CANCELED

** Following is an open letter released by River Ridge Charity show management. ** It has been said that all good things must come to an end and that has come true today. After 75+ years, the River Ridge Charity Horse Show has been canceled. We have received notification that the Ohio Expositions Center/Ohio State Fairgrounds has limited funding and employees because of the pandemic that is consuming our country. Unfortunately, the facilities are no longer available for rent by River Ridge. US EQUESTRIAN ANNOUNCES AMATEUR TASK FORCE MEMBERS

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has announced the members of its newly populated Amateur Task Force for 2021. These respected members of the equestrian community, most of whom are amateurs themselves, bring diverse equestrian experience across multiple breeds and disciplines within the sport. The task force includes Judy Werner (Chair), Penelope Ayers, Lisa Blackstone, José Colón, Caitlin Creel, C.A. VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER CEO TO RETIRE; FOUNDATION PLANS LEADERSHIP TRANSITION

The American Morgan Horse Association has announced that applications are available for both Judges’ Schools being offered by AMHA in 2021. ASR FUTURITY PRIZE PROGRAMS ANNOUNCE CHANGES

The American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) Kentucky and National Futurities Committee recently reviewed how to make the ASR Futurity Programs bigger, better and more inclusive. Focus groups were formed and stakeholders from all levels of breeders and futurity participants were consulted to look at what could be done to grow the participation in the ASR Futurities and create more incentive for breeders. The American Saddlebred Horse Association has released a reminder to all its 2021 shows that the ASHA Horse Show Grant application period for the 2021 season is open and will close Wednesday, March 31. The NYSSA Committee has announced that it is offering 38 Morgan stallions and 25 equine vendor services in this year's service auction. Online bidding began on January 17, 2021, and ends Friday, January 29, 2021. On Saturday January 30, 2021, all service items will go to the floor for live bidding at del Lago Casino in Waterloo, N.Y. The United States Equestrian Federation has announced the members of its newly repopulated Competition Task Force for 2021. These respected members of the equestrian community come to the task force with a diverse set of business skills and equestrian experience across multiple breeds and disciplines within the sport. The task force includes a mix of equestrian experts, including Tom O’Mara (Chairman), Rob Burk, Elisabeth Goth, John Madden, Britt McCormick, Stan Morey, Bill Moroney, and Sissy Wickes. UPHA ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO HACKNEY CLASSICS

The United Professional Horsemen’s Association held its virtual National Conference on January 11-15, 2021. The UPHA Classics Committee recommended, and the UPHA Board approved, to offer a UPHA Classics Hackney Pony Park Pleasure Driving class instead of the UPHA Classics Hackney Pony Pleasure Driving class. This change will be in effect for the 2021 competition year and will allow professionals to compete and hopefully increase entries. Shows are encouraged to update their prize lists to reflect this change. UPHA FOUNDATION HAS DONATED MORE THAN $700,000 TO CHARITY

The United Professional Horsemen's Association Ribbons of Service program is an example of how young people can use their passion for horses to help the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and learn to give back to their communities. To date, UPHA youth members have raised more than $550,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and almost $150,000 to other nonprofit charities.  COVID-19 restricted Ribbons of Services participants' traditional fundraising and community service efforts. ASB MUSEUM'S TICKET TO RIDE RAFFLE SALES CONTINUE

Ticket sales continue for the American Saddlebred Museum’s “Ticket to Ride” raffle. The raffle winner will receive the opportunity to special order a 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands with standard powertrain and standard equipment or $30,000 cash. As show season approaches and plans are being made, Morgan Weanling Gala committee members have announced that the Morgan Weanling Gala will not continue into the future. It was a difficult decision following a successful 12-year run, but felt it was time. The Gala began in 2009 as a one-of-a-kind event that focused on Morgan weanlings, their sires and their breeders. REMINDER: 2021 STALLION SWEEPS DRAWING TO BE HELD JAN. 23

The American Saddlebred Horse Association is entering its fifth year for the Stallion Sweeps. This collaboration between ASHA and the United Breeders Committee has raised more than $150,000 to promote the breeding of American Saddlebreds. The Stallion Sweeps offers the chance to get a breeding to some of the top American Saddlebred stallions in the world and raise money for breeding promotional programs. Funds raised will benefit the American Saddlebred Registry Futurity of Kentucky Yearling Open at the 2021 Kentucky State Fair World's Championship Horse Show. ASB MUSEUM RECEIVES GRANT FROM JUNIOR LEAGUE OF LEXINGTON

The American Saddlebred Museum has received a Community Education and Research Grant from the Junior League of Lexington. Grant funding will support the purchase of archival supplies to house the Museum’s historic collection of Horse Show Ribbons. This collection includes objects dating from 1903 to present day. Significant objects include ribbons awarded to great horses, including CH Wing Commander, CH Yorktown, CH Local Talent and many others.  Museum Executive Director, Jennifer Foster says: “Proper preservation of the collection is always a priority for the Museum. We are pleased that the Junior League of Lexington recognizes the importance of preservation, particularly for objects related

The American Saddlebred Museum has announced Harrison Goode of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is the recipient of the Keith Bartz Impact Scholarship Award. The scholarship committee chose Goode from an outstanding group of nominees. The scholarship celebrates the life of Keith Bartz who focused his time, talent and resources on building the American Saddlebred Museum and the celebration of the American Saddlebred Horse. The recipient is an individual who exemplifies the same character and enthusiasm for the breed. ASHA ANNOUNCES 2020 YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Each year the American Saddlebred Horse Association has recognized its junior members age 21 and under on the basis of academic success, financial need, involvement with the American Saddlebred and the ASHA youth programs, and extracurricular activities including community service. The purpose of the scholarships is to encourage, support and recognize participation in all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry, as well as to strengthen the American Saddlebred industry and breed through education. For 2020, ASHA is presenting two scholarships of $5,000 each helped made possible by the 2020 United States Equestrian Trust Grant awarded to ASHA.   ASHA has announced the following scholarship recipients this year:

AMHA ONLINE VOTING PORTAL NOW OPEN

The 2021 American Morgan Horse Association election portal is now open and ready to begin accepting electronic votes. Every AMHA member that is eligible to vote (and has a valid email address on file with AMHA) should have received an electronic ballot with the appropriate instructions for online voting sometime yesterday (January 6, 2021). Members are asked to check their junk email or spam folder if they don’t find their ballot in their inbox. The American Saddlebred Horse Association has announced that its annual meeting will be held virtually for 2021. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 5 p.m. ET.
