The United Breeders Committee (UBC) has been formed to try to find viable solutions to the problem of the decline in American Saddlebred, Hackney, and Morgan foal registrations. In an effort to stimulate breeding, the UBC is working with stallion owners, trainers and veterinarians to help reduce the cost of producing a marketable product. The program has three facets: the trainer list, the leasable mare list and the stallion list.
A group of trainers from across the country have agreed to offer a discounted training rate for a period of four moths for starting colts. The goal is to have a colt trained enough that it can be ridden or driven and far enough along to be fairly evaluated as to its potential.
Stallion owners have committed to offering a reduced rate for some of their fees: it may be reduced booking fees, collection fees, studs fees, or a combination of any reduction of fees for the 2014 season. If you would like your stallion to be included, please include his registered name, sire, dam, dam’s sire and contact name and phone number to ubc@zoominternet.com.
If you would like your mare included in the broodmare lease list, please send the mare’s registered name, registration number, sire, dam and dam’s sire, as well as the contact name and phone number to ubc@zoominternet.com.
Please visit the UBC’s Facebook page for updates and additions to the trainer, stallion and mare lease lists.
