The arrival of horses and ponies at the Virginia Horse Center will begin on Sunday June 16 as exhibitors will begin to prepare for this annual event from all over the country. The Shenandoah Classic Horse Show starts on Wednesday June 19, 2019, and goes through Saturday June 22, 2019.
More than 100 classes will take place in the Waldron Arena located in the Anderson Coliseum. The show will feature American Saddlebreds and Hackney ponies in top level competition. The show also will be accompanied by special events open to the public and the community.
From Tuesday June 18 through Thursday June 20, show management will host "Sunrise with the Saddlebreds." From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., pastries and coffee will be available so attendees may enjoy viewing and interacting with the preparation and training of the horses and ponies.
Wednesday, June 19 will bring first evening performance. Coinciding with this event, open to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the opening reception will be on the concourse of the Anderson Coliseum, and food and beverages will be available for everyone’s enjoyment. On Friday June 21, at 9 p.m., after at the close of the show, spectators, exhibitors and trainers will gather for the Celebration of Sport with food and beverages. A Motown inspired live music band will entertain. This also will be located on the concourse.
The Shenandoah Classic will wrap up on Saturday June 22, starting at 6:30 p.m. featuring individual championship classes. This year, attendees will be honored with appearances from a mystery guest that will bring back memories from the past.
