For six decades, the Connecticut Morgan Horse Show has been thrilling the Morgan Horse community. In addition to planning its 60th edition horse show, the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association has been hard at work planning a yearlong 60th-anniversary celebration full of new and exciting events.
- People's Choice Awards: For the first time, the association is taking the people's choice awards virtual. Nominate a favorite horse in one of many categories. Nominations close on June 12. To learn more about the People's Choice Awards and to nominate a horse, please visit https://bit.ly/CTPeoplesChoice.
- Be sure to check out the free virtual practice youth contests on Facebook (Connecticut Morgan Horse Association Youth) for opportunities to brush up on skills or try them out for the first time. Open to kids of all ages.
- Virtual Stick Horse Class: The association is hosting a virtual stick horse class for the young and young at heart. Participants do not need to be members. Rules, guidelines for a "class," and entry submissions are available at: https://bit.ly/VirtualStickHorse. All entries are due by June 15; there will be prizes.
- Virtual Dog Show: Horse people love their dogs, and the association wants to see those dogs at their best. Participants do not need to be members. There will be some fun prizes and bragging rights to the winner in each division. There will be adult and youth divisions - for live dogs and stuffed animals (youth only). There also is a trick or agility class. Information and entry form: https://bit.ly/VirtualDogShow. All entries are due by June 22.
You do not need to be a member of our club to participate in any of these virtual events and the association encourages participants to become involved and enjoy their horse.
Connecticut Morgan Horse Association members who have access to their horses should sign up for Morgan Time. The fee is $5, and they track the time spent with their horse from May through October. Morgan Time participants with the most hours receive a year-end award and there are cumulative awards when they reach milestones.
The association will be announcing other programs throughout the year. Connecticut Morgan Horse Association has served its members for more than 60 years and is pleased to bring these new events to its members and other equestrians.
