Calling all youth who want their voice to be heard, demonstrate leadership, and make a difference!
The AMHA Youth Council is composed of members devoted to the breed who strive to adhere to the following three goals:
-- To perpetuate and promote the Morgan's long standing history of excellence, athleticism, intelligence and willingness.
-- To attract equine-minded youth nationwide to AMHA Youth Programs by developing diverse, interesting, and effective campaigns and programs to increase youth involvement.
-- To offer guidance to other AMHA youth and serve as an exemplary role models. Members of the Council are not only representatives of their region, but AMHA.
The Executive Committee of the AMHA Youth Council will include the President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Public Relations, Vice President of East Region, Vice President of Central Region, and Vice President of West Region.
• The President is expected to attend and preside over all Youth Council meetings.
• The Vice President of Finance will coordinate and track fundraising efforts and the line-item that the council has within the American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT).
• The Vice President of Public Relations will monitor social media and print media and will coordinate print media exposure by working with the Youth program coordinator and the AMHA communications specialist to publish press releases on AMHAY activities and events to the general public.
• The Vice President of East, Central, and West will help coordinate activities and programs throughout their regions and also assist with all national level activities as needed. East, Central, and West VPs also will serve as a liaison between the youth members and youth clubs of their regions and the AMHA Youth Department.
• Regional Delegates must submit an application to the AMHA Youth Department to be approved. The Executive Council will designate one primary Regional Delegate for each of the ten AMHA regions.
• The Ex-Officio is to be the immediate past President of the AMHA Youth Council and may concurrently hold another seat on the council, provided he/she meets the age restrictions.
AMHA welcomes all youth interested in governance and leadership roles to run for the positions that form the Executive Committee. A Declaration of Intent must be sent to the AMHA office by September 12, 2016.
Ballots will be e-mailed to all AMHA Youth October 3, 2016 and voting will close October 14, 2016. Results will be announced at the annual Youth Council meeting in October at the Grand National.
