Thanks to American Saddlebred owner and exhibitor, Carolyn Stuart, Saddlebred Rescue has a new friend. Alexis Bittar, described as "One Of The Greatest Jewelry Designers Of The 21st Century," went from hawking his wares on the streets of New York, to selling his eponymous jewelry collections in more than 34 countries around the globe. Featuring both fine jewelry and upscale fashion jewelry, Bittar’s designs can be found in 12 Alexis Bittar stores located in California, New York, Illinois and Connecticut as well as at select retailers.
Mr. Bittar has graciously agreed to host a “trunk show” of his eclectic jewelry at the Alexis Bittar store at 1710 N Damen Ave., Chicago, Illinois 60647. Although the date has not been set, there is talk that the event will be prior to Valentine’s day to give people a chance to shop for something special for that special someone. Event organizers are hoping to host the cocktail party/trunk show on either February 11 or 12, 2015. Bittar will donate 10% of the proceeds to Saddlebred Rescue, a 501C(3) charity committed to rescuing, rehabbing and rehoming horses bound for slaughter.
In 2009 W Magazine described Alexis Bittar as “Jewelry’s arm-candy man,” and with his lush style, the description is accurate. Best known for his lucite bracelets, he also fashions necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets in a multitude of mediums. His work has been described as incredibly detailed, artsy and scrumptious by those in the know. The women of the hit television show Sex and The City have consistently worn his magnificent pieces throughout the years. This year, Bittar won the coveted Accessories Council of Excellence “Brand of the Year” award.
In addition to being a world-class jewelry designer, Mr. Bittar is a huge proponent of helping animals, thus his decision to put together a trunk show in Chicago benefitting Saddlebred Rescue. Dates and times will be posted as they become available.
