The American Hackney Horse Society Foundation has announced that it will continue to offer incentives to Hackney enthusiasts for sharing the Hackney breed with individuals that are newcomers, as well as incentives to beginners interested in becoming involved with the Hackney.
"The Buck Stops Here" program provides the opportunity for American Hackney Horse Society members to earn unique currency, Hackney Bucks, that can be spent with the list of registered vendors as cash. Hackney Bucks may be earned by signing up a new member to the American Hackney Horse Society, donating a safe Hackney to a lesson program, giving first-time individuals a riding or driving lesson on a Hackney (professional instructors), showing a Hackney for the first time, breeding/registering a Hackney for the first time or for the first time in five years, exhibiting a Hackney in an event outside of the show ring, hosting an educational clinic about the Hackney, and more.
In addition to growing the number of individuals that are involved with the Hackney breed, this program aims to attract new breeders, attract new members, increase show participation, promote new ways to use Hackneys, and improve communication with regional associations.
“The Hackney Foundation created 'The Buck Stops Here' program to help incentivize people to promote the Hackney breed,” says AHHS Foundation President, Brian Yount.
The program has helped new training barns that are involved with showing Hackneys. Katy Earehart and her husband, Brian, utilized The Buck Stops Here while looking for ways to promote the opening of Heritage Stables. “We noticed that The Buck Stops Here program offered Hackney Bucks as an incentive to host and open house and share the breed with other people," Katy said. "We got $500 in Hackney Bucks... which we’ve redeemed with ads to help promote our new business.”
The Buck Stops Here also is accepting new vendors within the equine industry. There is no cost to register as a vendor, and vendors are fully reimbursed for any Hackney Bucks they accept by the AHHS Foundation.
