The United Professional Horsemen's Association has announced that the well-established UPHA Classics Program will welcome a new class this year. In 2017, a UPHA Roadster Classic Grand Championship will be held at the American Royal.
This class is open to any horse registered with the ARHPA that has not been shown prior to January 1, 2016. During the 2017 show season, there will be no qualifying classes. The driver, owner and trainer must all be members of the UPHA. The driver must be 18 years of age or older. The winner will not be eligible to compete in this class in the future. The entry fee is $600: $100 to accompany the entry blank, and $500 due 24 hours prior to the class. As tradition would have it, the class will be held on Thursday evening in conjunction with the other Classic Grand Championships at the 2017 UPHA American Royal Horse Show.
EXTENSION OF UPHA CLASSIC NOMINATION DATE
In the past, April has been the deadline for the UPHA Classic Nomination eligibility fee of $100. For ease of nomination, the UPHA has graciously extended the deadline an additional 15 days. This extension is due to recent issues with the new membership portal, as well as difficulty in reference to renewing UPHA memberships. Nominations for Morgan, Hackney and American Saddlebred Classics will be accepted with a postmark on or before April 15, 2017. After April 15, the eligibility fee becomes $150 per horse.
