ROBERTSON EQUINE ANNOUNCES OUTDOOR VENUE FOR JUNE SALE

Robertson Equine Sales President Jimmy Robertson has revealed plans to hold the auction house’s next equine sale, June 9-10, in the outdoor arena at the Shelbyville, Kentucky, fairgrounds. “With the Spring Sale’s rescheduling until June, we are hopeful that we’ll have favorable weather to give each horse a true show ring to be presented in,” Robertson said. “It’s a venue that’s ideal for any show horse, and especially for driving horses.” Mentioning that the show horse community has pent-up demand for entertaining, outside events, Robertson also said that presenting horses outdoors is a safer, healthier environment for COVID-19 compliance. “We’ll observe wh

REMINDER: 2021 HORSE SHOW GRANT APPLICATION DUE APR. 30

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) Horse Show Grant application period for the 2021 season is open and application submission deadline has been extended to Friday, April 30. ASHA Horse Show Grants are available for financially challenged American Saddlebred competitions. Minimum grant requirements must be met in order to receive a grant. USEF ANNOUNCES NEW COMPETITION SPECTATOR CAPACITY GUIDELINES

US Equestrian has announced that beginning May 3, 2021, licensees of USEF competitions are permitted to welcome a limited number of spectators back to their competitions. Dr. Mark Hart, USEF Chief Medical Officer stated, “In the spirit of moving our sport forward and recognizing the ever-changing dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic resulting from the increasing number of distributed vaccines, we are working to finalize the specific protocols related to a measured return of spectator attendance. VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER FOUNDATION NAMES GLENN T. PETTY AS CEO

The Board of Directors of the Virginia Horse Center Foundation has announced that Glenn T. Petty has been appointed as the new CEO of the Foundation. An experienced business leader and horseman, Petty will succeed John Nicholson and assume responsibilities on May 3, 2021. Nicholson will be retiring to his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. Petty spent 16 years as manager of the Governor James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex and 25 years as show manager of the 19-day State Fair Horse Show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. ASHBA REMINDS MEMBERS TO REGISTER THEIR 2021 EARLY TO SAVE ON FEES

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association has released a reminder that members registering their 2021 spring foals now will qualify for the reduced $45 registration fee. Applications for registration received for foals that are younger than six months old qualify for a $45 registration fee. Foals that are six months up to 12 months when the applications for registration are received are subject to a $65 registration fee. Note that fees must be received along with the application forms to qualify for the $45 registration fee and other registry fees may apply such as fees for DNA testing, unregistered foal transfers, etc. An application for registration form can be found

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association has announced a webinar event with a panel of "R" Judges, Fay Lowry, Fran Crumpler and Melissa Moore on Thursday April 29 at 5 p.m. ET, for an educational webinar on the basics of horse show judging. NEW YOUTH DIVISION ADDED TO SADDLEBRED RULEBOOK FOR 2021

The Youth Division Rules will be added to the Saddlebred Rulebook for the 2021 competition year. ASHBA NATIONAL AND NATIONAL AMATEUR FUTURITIES 2021 WEANLING NOMS DUE MARCH 31

The deadline to nominate weanlings for the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association National and National Amateur Futurities is Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Beginning with this 2021 foal crop, nomination requirements for stallions and mares have been eliminated for the new ASHBA National and National Amateur Futurities. Moving forward, weanling nominations will act as the starting point of the nomination process for futurity horses. Foals not born will need to be nominated in utero by the March 31 deadline. A weanling nomination form can be found here.

UPDATE: MADISON CLASSIC BECOMES MAY CLASSIC

The Madison Classic has opted to put on a show during their dates at the Fairgrounds location to benefit Chapter 3/4. The May Classic Horse Show, May 27-30 2021, will be held at the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds in West Allis,  Wisconsin. The same crew of Vicky Holston, Tuffy Owens Ken Berget, Lynda Freseth and other familiar faces will be in the trenches giving the area a horse show that weekend. The theme of the show will be "Staying Alive" which was a familiar song by the Bee Gees, referring to keeping horse shows alive and well. The American Morgan Horse Association has announced the AMHA Youth Contest grant, sponsored by the USA Equestrian Trust. The grant is good for 2021 only, and can be used to enhance contests or create a new one. Priority will be given to first-year contests, but all contests will receive something. Monies will vary per recipient. The AMHA Youth Contest Subcommittee will be the decision makers on how this grant is spent. EWAC RAISING FUNDS TO ASSIST SILVER OAKS PUBLIC SEIZURE

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) Equine Welfare Advocacy Committee (EWAC) needs immediate help to assure they can assist the near 50 American Saddlebreds from Silver Oak Saddlebreds that have been legally seized in Yamhill County, Oregon. EWAC is launching a fundraiser to develop much-needed funds to assist these horses. The total estimated it will require to assist these Saddlebreds is upwards of $10,000. US EQUESTRIAN EXPANDS ELIGIBILITY FOR EQUESTRIAN SCHOLARSHIPS

US Equestrian has announced that it has expanded the eligibility requirements for the Higher Education Equestrian Scholarship, which provides five $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors committed to continuing their involvement in equestrian sport while in college. ASHBA PROVIDES A DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW REGISTRY COUNCIL

The Registry Council of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) formed upon the merger of the American Saddlebred Horse Association and the American Saddlebred Registry in February 2021. This council is made up of members from the Board of Directors and will oversee functions of the registry, registry focused committees, and the Registry Trust.  This inaugural Registry Council consists of the seven independent members of the American Saddlebred Registry Board of Directors prior to the merger. Anna Marie, from Jefferson City, Missouri, has been a lifelong American Saddlebred owner, exhibitor, and breeder. AHHS AND AHHS NATIONAL FUTURITY ANNOUNCE FUNDRAISER

The American Hackney Horse Society and AHHS National Futurity committee are organizing a fundraiser to raise money for the Futurity, while creating a fun interactive way to include owners and trainers, encourage people to show, and create new interest in the Futurity. The organizations are seeking 10-20 amateur exhibitors willing to be auctioned off to the highest bidder on 32 auctions, from March 5-March 10. Each amateur will compete from March 10 to September 30, 2021. During this time period, the amateurs will accumulate points by winning classes throughout the time frame (even one entry classes count towards a win). AMERICAN SADDLEBRED 3- AND 4-YEAR-OLD SWEEPSTAKES NOMINATION AND PAYMENT DUE BY MAR. 1

ASHBA SELECT SERIES EXPANDING IN 2021

The American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association National Select Series is expanding and improving for the 2021 show season. This program debuted to much excitement and success during a very challenging 2020 competition season. One thousand American Saddlebreds and members had an increased opportunity to compete for additional recognition and enjoyment last year. RES SPRING SALE DATES CHANGED

Robertson Equine Sales has announced that the dates for its Spring Sale have been moved to Wednesday and Thursday, June 9 - 10, during Rock Creek Horse Show held in Louisville. The sale itself will be held at the Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Entries will close on May 3; the deadline for photos in the printed catalog is May 7. Existing entries will automatically be entered into the June sale, unless the consignor advises otherwise. TSHSA ANNOUNCES 2021 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The TriState Horse Shows Association has announces its 2021 scholarship winners. The scholarship honors excellence in academics, community involvement and participation in the show industry. Each winner was awarded a scholarship of $1,250. Korah Anderson, daughter of Eric and Darcie Anderson, rides with Heritage Stables and will be attending University of Finley in the fall. REMINDER: AMHA ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS IS VIRTUAL THIS SATURDAY

The 2021 Annual Meeting of American Morgan Horse Association Members will be held this Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 12 p.m. Eastern Time (11 a.m. Central; 10 a.m. Mountain; 9 a.m. Pacific). Like many associations in the past year, we are offering a virtual annual meeting of the membership. We have reserved space to hold the meeting and set up on-site voting at the United States Pony Clubs Office Boardroom located in the Kentucky Horse Park at 4047 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, Kentucky.
