California Equine Foundation has announced that it will host the Viva Las Vegas Horse Show, October 29-31, at the South Point Equestrian Events Center. Complete details will be released as soon as possible regarding room reservations, etc. The show will use the same scheduling format as the cancelled California Saddle Horse Breeders Association Futurity Horse Show. Kent Moeller will manage. Lori Nelson will be the secretary. AHHS SUSPENDS QUALIFYING FOR YOUTH MEDALLION FINALS

Due to the number of shows cancelled due to COVID-19, which has caused a lack of Youth Medallion Qualifying classes in many regions of the country, the American Hackney Horse Society Board of Directors has voted to suspend qualifying for the AHHS Youth Medallion Finals at the 2020 UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show. This decision was made upon recommendation of Youth Medallion Committee in an effort to increase participation at the AHHS Youth Medallion Finals. The UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show will be held November 9-14, 2020, at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City, Missouri. UPHA ANNOUNCES NATIONAL SHOW HORSE CHALLENGE CUP FINALS CHAMPIONS

A competitive group of riders entered the Coliseum at the Illinois State fairgrounds on Thursday, September 10, at the National Show Horse Finals in Springfield, Illinois, all vying for a 2020 United Professional Horsemen's Association National Show Horse Challenge Cup Finals Championship title. These riders competed in two groups, from which two national champions were crowned: Senior and Junior. The Junior and Senior age groups performed rail work and a pattern in the Phase I preliminary stage. The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust is offering two 2021 memorial grants for young adults under the age of 40. The Harry Sebring Memorial Grant is offered to all American Morgan Horse Association members under the age of 40 who would like to further his or her equine education, skills, or proficiency and/or provide equine-related experiences and education that will further the grant recipient’s business endeavors. HALF-SADDLEBREDS TO BE RECOGNIZED AT AMERICAN DUTCH HARNESS HORSE FINALS

The American Saddlebred Horse Association and American Saddlebred Registry are partnering with the American Dutch Harness Horse Association (ADHHA) to recognize the highest placing Half-Saddlebreds at the American Dutch Harness Horse Finals. The Finals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in conjunction with the Kentucky Fall Classic Horse Show, September 30 through October 3. USEF ANNUAL MEETING GOES VIRTUAL FOR 2021

US Equestrian has announced that its annual meeting will be held virtually for 2021. The meeting is scheduled for January 17-18, 2021. UPHA TO HOST VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FOR 2020

The United Professional Horsemen’s Association announced Sep. 14 that its Executive Board has voted to host a virtual annual meeting in January of 2021, in lieu of an in-person conference, due to ongoing social distancing and group gathering restrictions related to COVID-19. Upon recommendation from the UPHA Awards Committee, the UPHA Executive Board voted to only award the Tom Moore Hall of Fame, Helen K. Crabtree Instructor Hall of Fame, Larry Bacon Lifetime Achievement Award and the Alvin C. Ruxer Lifetime Commitment Award for 2020. ROCK CREEK 2020 HAS BEEN CANCELED

The Board of Directors of the Rock Creek Riding Club has announced that it has canceled this year’s Rock Creek Horse Show, scheduled for October 21-24 in Louisville, Kentucky. OHIO STATE ANNOUNCES DR. SCOTT BENNETT SCHOLARSHIP IN EQUINE VETERINARY MEDICINE

Ohio State University has announced a call to action to raise funds for the Dr. Scott Bennett Scholarship in Equine Veterinary Medicine. The funds raised will provide financial support to an Ohio State University 4th year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student who plans to pursue a career in equine medicine, with preference given to a student interested in pursuing a residency in equine surgery. Established in honor of the memory of Dr. Scott Bennett, DVM (OSU 1977) (ACVS), this scholarship will continue Dr. Bennett's legacy of developing young practitioners in the art and science of equine veterinary medicine and surgery. The American Saddlebred Museum has announced that it is accepting consignments for the next Equine Art, Antique, and Rare Book Auction taking place in July 2021. To prepare for this much-loved event, the Museum is accepting consignments until February 1, 2021. 2021 AMERICAN YOUTH HORSE COUNCIL ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM TO BE VIRTUAL

The board of directors for the American Youth Horse Council has unanimously agreed to convert the 44th Annual AYHC Symposium to a virtual format. The event, originally scheduled for February 26-28, 2021, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, will now be held entirely online with a revised schedule and dates to be determined soon. UPHA TO HOST OPEN GATE LEARNING CENTER AT GRAND NATIONAL

The Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show has announced that this year, it has partnered with the United Professional Horsemen’s Association to offer the Open Gate Learning Center at the 2020 Morgan Grand National. The Open Gate Learning Center is an on-site study and learning center for young equestrians who are competing at the show in Oklahoma City, October 10-17. The purpose of the Learning Center is to provide academic support to young riders, currently enrolled in grades 5-12, who are away from their local schools. WCHS ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL PRIZE MONEY

The World’s Championship Horse Show’s largest prize continues to grow in prestige and value. With support from the Goodman and Manilow Families and the Barbara Blacklaw Memorial Fund, the prize money has increased to $155,000 and the class placings have expanded from eight to 10 for the Five-Gaited World’s Grand Champion. In 2019, a $1 million endowment was the gift from William Blacklaw in memory of his wife and is invested in an interest-bearing account. Accrued interest on the endowment will be disbursed annually to provide additional prize money to ribbon winners in the Five-Gaited World’s Grand Championship competition held on the final night of the World’s Championship Horse Show. BARN FIRE SURVIVOR WINS AT MISSOURI STATE FAIR

Be Fabulous isn’t just fabulous; she is remarkable. Be Fabulous was one of the last horses to make it out of the horrific Fairview Farm barn fire in 2016. She was just a yearling when she fought her way out of a stall and came running out of the barn on fire. Through the dedicated care of her owners, breeders, and trainers, Bob and Tonya Brison, this brave and resilient mare returned to health. Bailey, as she is lovingly known by her Fairview Farms family, not only returned to health but was able to thrive in her training. She earned her first career victory this past weekend in the UPHA Chapter Five/Missouri State Fair Open Five-Gaited Stake. The Joint Leadership Council, comprised of members from the AHHS, AMHA, ARHPA, ASHA, and UPHA, hosted a Town Hall with the decision makers from the 2020 World’s Championship Horse Show. The Town Hall was held on Thursday, August 6, at 7 p.m. ET. The Joint Leadership Council was aware of the many questions and concerns members and exhibitors had around the upcoming World's Championship Horse Show. US EQUESTRIAN ANNOUNCES UPDATED EQUESTRIAN INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETE PROGRAM

The US Equestrian Athlete Lettering Program is getting a new look. US Equestrian has unveiled a new name and an updated look for its popular student athlete recognition program. The newly renamed US Equestrian Interscholastic Athlete Program will continue to provide recognition to athletes who participate in equestrian sports through their middle and high school careers. This will be the first of several announcements of the revamping process with the new US Equestrian Athlete Program. Participants can apply for the program for up to eight years total, beginning in fifth grade and continuing through their senior year of high school. In an official statement from the Kentucky Exposition Center, released Tuesday, August 4, during major events like the World's Championship Horse Show, the facility works in coordination with the Kentucky State Police and Louisville Metro Police Department to ensure the safety and security of guests on the property. Recent posts regarding an additional security service and the danger to exhibitors during the horse show are not backed up by official law enforcement sources or factual evidence.
