GAYLE LAMPE TO HOST WEEK-LONG RIDING CLINIC IN DECEMBER

Gayle Lampe and William Woods University have announced the "Almost Christmas" riding clinic, to be held December 8-13, in Fulton, Missouri. The clinic spaces will be reserved as first-come, first-serve, and will include 13 rides. A non-refundable $340 deposit to cover two days of the clinic is due by November 4; the entire cost of the clinic is $850, and does not include room or food. Attendees should plan to ride three times on Monday and Wednesday, and two times Tuesday and Thursday. AMHECT/WMF STALLION SERVICE AUCTION EARNS MONEY FOR BREED

Nearly $75,000 was earned at the online AMHECT/WMF Stallion Service Auction that ended on Saturday, October 19. The net income following expenses from this auction go to breed promotion and will be distributed to the World Morgan Futurity, American Morgan Horse Association regional shows, the AMHA Show Grant Program, and AMHA's Marketing and Promotion. 2019 World Park Harness Champion Dressed Up GCH topped the stallion bidding with Michael Carpenter paying $5,000. ASB MUSEUM ANNOUNCES GIFT SHOP POP-UPS

The American Saddlebred Museum and Gift Shop has announced participation in several upcoming horse shows. The Museum’s shop will be at the National Academy Championship Horse Show in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This is the second year the Museum has participated in the Academy Show and staff is excited to visit with families again. The 2019 Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show is shaping up to be another monumental event in this show's long history. FIRST ASHA JUDGES CLINIC A SUCCESS

The first Judges Clinic organized by the American Saddlebred Horse Association was held in Lexington, Kentucky, October 3-5.  Twenty four people attended the clinic, including 10 new applicants and 14 licensed judges, working on requirements for promotion and/or for maintenance of licenses in the American Saddlebred, Hackney, Roadster and Saddle Seat Equitation divisions.  According to participants, clinicians Fran Crumpler and Melissa Moore presented information in a professional, precise and enjoyable manner. ASHA ALPHA CLASSES TO DEBUT AT NATIONAL ACADEMY CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS

The American Saddlebred Horse Association in partnership with the National Academy Championship Horse Show will debut new ASHA Alpha Classes for riders that have either moved out of the Academy Division or are new riders entering show horse classes for the first time. These classes, unlike the novice or limit rider classes, will give riders two show seasons to compete at an entry level of competition. This will give riders more experience before moving up to stronger competition. The two classes offered this year are the ASHA Alpha Open English Pleasure WTC for riders 13 and under and the ASHA Alpha Open English Pleasure WTC for rider 14 and over. The classes will be held at the National Academy Championship Horse Sho

The American Morgan Horse Association has announced it has once again partnered with the United Professional Horsemen’s Association and the Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show in order to offer the Open Gate Learning Center. The Open Gate Learning Center is an on-site study and learning center for young equestrians who are competing at the horse show, which will take place in Oklahoma City October 12-19, 2019. INCREASING HORSE SHOW PARTICIPATION IN UNDERREPRESENTED AREAS ADDED TO ROLE OF TASK FORCE

The American Saddlebred Horse Association Horse Show Task Force (HSTF) begins its work this week to examine and provide recommendations to support horse shows with an added duty of increasing participation to underrepresented areas.  “If we’re going to grow our industry, we must increase exposure across the country,” said David Mount, ASHA executive director. "That’s why ASHA added addressing the needs of underrepresented areas as a key component of the work by the Horse Show Task Force." MANE EVENT RETURNS TO ILLINOIS STATE FAIR COLISEUM

The Mid-America Horse Show Association will host the 2019 Mane Event Horse Show in the newly renovated Illinois State Fair Coliseum of Champions, in Springfield, Illinois, October 17 through 20. The Mane Event Horse Show will feature a full slate of classes for Saddlebreds, Hackney ponies, Equitation, open breed, roadster and road horse classes. Both “A” circuit and “B” circuit points will be awarded. Fran Crumpler, Maria Gilman and Mike Tunstall will be judging. New this year at Mane Event will be participation of the American Dutch Harness horses. The award is $1,500 and given to an individual dedicated to raising awareness of the American Saddlebred and improving the community.  Keith Bartz was an individual who focused his time, talent, and resources on building the American Saddlebred Museum and celebration of the American Saddlebred horse. ASHA NATIONAL PLEASURE EQUITATION FINALS RETURN AT ST. LOUIS NATIONAL CHARITY

The American Saddlebred Horse Association has announced its hosting of the ASHA National Pleasure Equitation Finals at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show. Phase One and Phase Two of the Finals will take place on Thursday, September 26. ASHA will be sponsoring a $1,000 scholarship to this year’s winner and gifts to all of the remaining ASHA Finals competitors. The ASHA National Pleasure Equitation Finals are integral in growing the sport of Equitation and the use of the American Saddlebred Pleasure Horse. AMHA BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES HOME OFFICE RELOCATION PROPOSAL

At its Third Quarter Board meeting held Saturday September 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the American Morgan Horse Association’s Board of Directors unanimously approved the recommendation to relocate the AMHA home office. The office will be relocated to the grounds of the Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, and the main transition will take place during the holiday period that occurs between Christmas and the New Year. However, it is expected that while the new office location will open January 2, 2020, the current office will remain open through January 31, 2020. HEALTH DOCUMENT UPDATE FOR ST. LOUIS CHARITY ENTRIES

The National Equestrian Center has issued an important health document update for entries heading to St. Louis National Charity, September 25-28, in St. Louis, Missouri. The update follows: In recent months, Vesicular Stomatitis cases have been confirmed in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and most recently, Nebraska and Utah. BREYER FUN DAY TO BE HELD SEPT. 14

The American Saddlebred Museum will be hosting Breyer Fun Day, Saturday, September 14, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Museum, located at 4083 Iron Works Parkway, on the grounds of the Kentucky Horse Park. This family-friendly event encourages young horse lovers to show their creative side and paint their own Breyer Stablemates models. In addition, attendees can shop the latest Breyer collection, enjoy some refreshments, and have lots of Breyer fun. REMINDER: APPLY FOR USEF YOUTH SPORTSMEN'S AWARD BY SEPT. 5

Applications for the 2019 USEF Youth Sportsman’s Award are now available online. This award recognizes youth members for their participation in the equestrian community and is focused on developing leaders within the industry. Active members aged 17 years and younger as of December 1, 2018, and in good standing with US Equestrian and their recognized national affiliate/international discipline associations are eligible to apply. EQUINE SCULPTURE WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN OCTOBER

The American Academy of Equine Art has announced the Equine Sculpture Workshop with Alexa King, the famed creator of “Barbaro," which stands at the entrance to Churchill Downs.  The workshop will be held October 21-25 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.   Alexa King is one of the preeminent equestrian sculptors at work today and this workshop is for all levels, beginner to advanced, so everyone will be comfortable and welcome. Alexa has done many Saddlebreds and Hackneys including "I'm First" and "Giselle," and her "Barbaro" at Churchill Downs is a crowd favorite.
